Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida is a multiple time Black belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion from Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is considered to be one of today's pound for pound kings of the sport.
Like most Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners, he earned his goofy nickname as a young competitor. His nickname Buchecha means "fat cheeks" in Portuguese, a name given to him by his instructor as a slightly overweight BJJ white belt.
With impressive technique and his submission hunting mindset, his athleticism and aggressive style have made him a fan favorite. Buchecha recently achieved double gold in back to back years at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship (commonly known as the Mundials). In addition to his impressive 2012 and 2013 run at the Mundials, he finished with Gold medal standings at both the 2013 World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Cup and 2013 Pan-American Championship.
