The BJJ and grappling community has always drawn inspiration from the animal kingdom. The vast amount of animals that possess different strengths and weaknesses, are all very similar to the wide range of grappling styles found in BJJ and No-Gi competitors.
The animal kingdom analogy is part of the culture that it is often used on a daily basis in BJJ/grappling gyms. Like an animal in the wild, every competitor is working with a different set of "weapons" and abilities. That's why you can find an even match between a 150 lbs competitor and a 250 lbs one. Or see an old practitioner and a youthful competitor push each other to improve their games. It is what makes BJJ one of the most dynamic sports in the world.
We all can relate to a specific animal when we hit the mats - an animal with a style that is different from anyone else you face.
